Chronic Dev-team's French member, Pod2g, is busy finding crucial L1 cache in Apple's latest A5 processor so it can be jailbroken. At the same time iPhone Dev-team's MuscleNerd is making sure people using Redsn0w do not encounter any problems while using the tethered jailbreak.
MuscleNerd, after releasing Redsn0w 0.9.9b9 on Monday, has updated the latest version to help iPhone 3GS users. Redsn0w 0.9.9b9 is a semi-tethered jailbreak which is untethered for 3GS users who are using old bootrom.
iPhone3GS owners in our comments section below noticed a problem with the untethered jailbreak available for the old-bootrom 3GS. We've corrected that problem in 0.9.9b9d. If you have an old-bootrom 3GS and have already used last night's redsn0w on it, you can re-run it again without losing anything. Just use this new version, go to Extras->IPSW and manually select the 5.0.1 IPSW, then go back and Jailbreak it again (but you can uncheck Cydia because it's already installed), MuscleNerd wrote in a blog post.
After the release of Redsn0w 0.9.9b9, there were many comments on the Dev-team's blog. One user posted:

Meanwhile, over two other updates, MuscleNerd solved the problems of 3GS users who were running the program on Windows.
Update #17b: Version 0.9.9b9b enables the Custom button for Windows users, and make the 3GS week 35 warning a more explicit part of the process.
Update #17c: For those Windows users encountering launch errors due to the self-update check, please use this version instead for now, the hacker posted.
