People who are looking for jailbreaks and jailbreak updates are either following Twitter or searching options to get news about the upcoming untethered jailbreak. But now they can follow a key member of the Chronic Dev-team, Pod2g, on his blog to see what he is up to.

Pod2g recently announced his entry on the blog and said it would be updated as soon as any developments take place.

The French hacker, who has been digging into Apple devices to get an untethered jailbreak for iOS 5 and higher versions, posted a video on YouTube last week, demonstrating the untethered version of the jailbreak.

Pad2g started his blog by posting the video of the untethered jailbreak. He also narrates the exploit he used to untether his iPod 3G.

Today I succeed in jailbreaking my iPod 3G. The exploit is user-land, rely on a user ROP payload and a kernel write anywhere exploit, he posted.

He also shared the steps he is going to follow to jailbreak other iOS 5 devices.

I can't give much details right now, but here are the next steps :

- upgrade the iPod 3G to iOS 5.0.1

- do the same on iPhone 4 / iOS 5.0.1

- then iPad 1 & iPod 4G

At every step, the exploit code needs certainly to be reworked, but I really don't know right now, Pod2g described.

Till now, the hacker has posted the news about his success in jailbreaking iPod3, 1, 3G; and iPhone 4.

On Sunday, after jailbreaking iPhone 4, he posted, It's late, time to pass out. I just want to let you know my iPhone 4 (iOS 5.0.1) is untethered. Some progress today heh ;-).

He is planning to take on to iPod 4G, iPad 1, iPhone 3Gs next.
