Finally after a long wait, Pod2g has given the Christmas and New Year gift to his fans by releasing the untethered jailbreak for iOS 5.0.1.
The French member of the Chronic Dev-team broke the news the jailbreak's release on his blog.
Hello, as expected, the Chronic Dev Team and the iPhone Dev Team have released the A4 untethered for 5.0.1 based on my work.
It is exactly the same set of files, either distributed as a Cydia package for those that are already tethered or a Redsn0w bundle for new users.
They both did a great job testing and integrating the payload, Pod2g posted on his blog.
There are two different links to download to the new jailbreak.
The Chronic Dev-team has released it on Greenpois0n.com and the program is called Corona 5.0.1 Untethered.
The iPhone Dev-team released it as an updated Redsn0w 9.10b1.
In a recent report, the IBTimes had predicted that the two members of both the Dev-teams - Pod2g and MuscleNerd - should be preparing a New Year gift for their fans.
The two most active jailbreakers of the year had not been active for the last four days and must have been busy in preparing this surprise release.
iPhone Dev-team on its Twitter page posted: It's released! Congrats to @pod2g for untethering iOS 5.0.1!
In hopes of making your holidays just a bit happier, this morning we are pleased to announce the release of an untethered jailbreak for iOS version 5.0.1, for all supported A4 (& lower) devices! This jailbreak is brought to you courtesy of pod2g's ninja-like magic + userland exploits, which he first publicly described in this blog post and then turned over to both the Chronic Dev & iPhone Dev teams for further testing + integration into our existing jailbreak tools, the Greenpois0n.com described the release.
You can quickly access, download and install Corona 5.0.1 Untether (Chronic Dev team's version, packaged in the Cydia store) for your iPhone 4, iPhone 4 (CDMA), iPhone 3GS, iPad 1, iPod Touch 4G & iPod Touch 3G by following the steps below:
