Apple's newest, third generation 4G-ready iPad has already been jailbroken untethered by the iPhone Dev Team. It may sound like an April Fool's joke to many, but it's not.

And that's not all. In fact, all the three jailbreak methods that we've covered earlier have been successfully tested on the new iPad. It has been confirmed now that not just one, but three different third generation iPad jailbreaks exist, thanks to hackers MuscleNerd, i0nic and chpwn.

The iPhone Dev Team said in a blog post, It turns out that all three of the jailbreak methods mentioned above have had great success today! We're off to a good start (but remember there's still lots of work to do)!

i0n1c's Untethered Exploit

In an earlier blog post, the Dev Team mentioned that Stefan Esser aka i0n1c was working on a completely different method to jailbreak the new iPad. On Friday, after the device went on sale around the world, i0n1c himself announced via Twitter that he had jailbroken his new iPad untethered.

Okay my iPad3,3 is now untethered jailbroken..., i0n1c tweeted.

The announcement was followed by another update by the hacker, providing a video as proof of his untethered jailbreak.

The jailbreak community had to wait a long time for an untethered jailbreak on iOS 5, after the A4 untethered jailbreak that surfaced in December, followed by the Absinthe jailbreak for A5 devices in January.

Considering this, the iPad 3 jailbreak success is one of the fastest turnarounds ever seen for a jailbreak on a brand new Apple device. Watch the video below:

MuscleNerd's Method

iPhone Dev Team's frontman MuscleNerd has also showcased a successful jailbreak on the new iPad running iOS 5.1. The hacker posted two screenshots on Twitter showing off the new iPad running the latest build of Cydia, which is 1.1.5. Check out the screenshots below:

chpwn's 'Different Method'

Joining the new third generation iPad jailbreak party, hacker Grant Paul aka chpwn announced the third method of the iPad 3 jailbreak.

Jailbroken iPad (3), using a different method by myself and @phoenixdev, the hacker tweeted.

He also posted the photo on his Twitter page confirming his success.

chpwn’s ‘Different Method’

Given the successful attempts to jailbreak the new iPad, it's indeed great news for those who have just picked up Apple's latest tablet and are waiting to explore the jailbreak utilities on the device. That said, it doesn't necessarily mean that the new iPad jailbreak will be available to the public anytime soon.

Although there is no official ETA on it yet, it can be safely assumed that one of the three methods is likely to be released in the very near future.
