Through continuous status updates, French iOS hacker Pod2g has always kept his followers in the loop on his progress regarding the much-awaited untethered jailbreak for iOS 5.1.1. Earlier this week, he listed out via a blog post the devices that would be supported by the upcoming untethered exploit. Now, he has come up with yet another update, adding two more devices to the list of the compatible ones.

In his previous update, Pod2g said that three iOS devices, namely Apple TV 3, iPhone 3GS and iPod touch 3G won't be supported by the iOS 5.1.1. However, he updated his blog on Friday taking both the iPhone 3GS and iPod touch 3G out of the list of unsupported devices and putting them together with the devices that would be compatible with the exploit.

Good news. We've found a way through for iPod 3G and iPhone 3Gs users. Upcoming jailbreak will be compatible, Pod2g tweeted.

As iDownloadBlog noted, the devices were excluded initially because the kernel vulnerability that was used to create the untethered jailbreak on other devices didn't apparently work on the iPod touch 3G and the iPhone 3GS. While luck has finally favored the owners of these two devices, those who own the third generation Apple TV are still left in the dark.

According to Pod2g, both the Wi-Fi and CDMA versions of the new third generation iPad will get the untethered jailbreak on iOS 5.1.1, while the global version of the device is still being worked on. Same is the case with the iPad 2 GSM/CDMA (as well as the R2 of the Wi-Fi model).
