Rumor mills are all buzzing about iPad 3, as the next generation Apple tablet is expected to be unveiled on Wednesday, March 7. However, let’s not forget that something bigger (though not literally) is expected to debut later this year (supposed in Fall) – iPhone 5 – a device that has generated more hype than all iPads combined.

It’s only a matter of time that Apple watchers will train their eyes on iPhone 5, especially when the frenzy over iPad 3 has died down. But for those who want a head start, here’s a rundown of some exciting features which we expect iPhone 5 to debut with, guaranteed features that will blow away competition (and your mind).

Faster Processor

Quad-core processor is being envisioned in iPad 3. While A5x chipset image leaked online suggests iPad 3 will feature dual-core processor instead of quad-core, as Android phones have been released with quad-core processors, it is certain that iPhone 5 will be equipped with a quad-core A6 processor with 1GB of RAM. And, even if Apple does not pack A6 chip, the tech giant is certain to release iPhone 5 with a zippy A5x processor.

Either way, iPhone 5 will have a faster processor – either dual-core or quad-core.

4G Connectivity & NFC

Qualcomm has unveiled its new Gobi v5 chips and has also stated that these chips will be used in upcoming iPhone and iPad. Gobi v5 is a universal chip for all networks featuring LTE, EV-DO and GSM compatibility. Apple is certain to equip iPhone 5 with Gobi v5 chip so that the next generation iPhone can come with 4G LTE option. After all, why should Android smartphone users have all the fun?

NFC support is also on the cards as many Android devices now support the technology, which allows simple transactions, data exchange, and connections with a touch.

iOS 6 with Siri 2.x

Now, we have proof that iOS 6 is in development and Apple is also testing it on iPad, but the new iOS is unlikely to hit the streets with iPad 3. Apple iPhone 5 is the more likely device iOS 6 will piggyback on. Along with iOS 6, Siri 2.0 could find its way on the new smartphone. Currently Siri is in its beta version.

Bigger Screen with Higher Resolution

Many large screen cellphones have been released in the past few months – HTC Titan, Droid Razr Maxx, Galaxy Note, galaxy Nexus, etc. Apple’s iPhone 4S display is one of the best among smartphone displays but, the screen size is too small compared to rival Android (and some Windows) phones. A bigger display offers better viewing experience. Apple will shoot itself in the foot if it releases iPhone 5 with the same 3.7-inch display. Hence, an iPhone with a bigger display is on the cards. Rumors are rife that iPhone 5 will have 4-inch or 4.3-inch screen. An edge-to-edge Retina Display would make Apple fans drool. Apple may also replace the qHD Retina Display with a TrueHD one. A bigger display with a better screen resolution? That’s pure bliss.

Better Battery

Most of the iPhone 4S users have been complaining about the low battery life of the device. Apple tried to fix the problem with its iOS 5.0.1 update, but it has failed to bring any improvement. In iPhone 5, Apple will take battery performance seriously and will likely add more juice to it. Galaxy Note is beating iPhone 4S battery stats with more endurance on video playback, web browsing, music playback and talk time. We can guarantee that Apple will introduce a better battery in iPhone 5 to crack the top spot on the battery stats list.
