New rumors about the iPhone 5 point to a summer 2012 launch, but should you wait for it or pick up a soon-to-be-released Nokia Lumia 900 or HTC Titan II?
Several new AT&T phones were debuted at the International Consumer Electronics Show in early January, and the Nokia Lumia 900 and HTC Titan II were among them. March 18 could be the release date for both Windows Phone devices, a new report from tech blog Boy Genius Report said. Even though both devices run the fledgling Windows Phone system, which has only a fraction of the apps in iOS or Android, both have some tasty features.
Nokia is well-known as a superb hardware manufacturer with an eye for clean designs, and the Lumia 900 fits that category nicely. Its rounded edges and flat top and bottom combined with it's choice of loud pastel colors give it a distinct Jetsons kind of feel. It features a 1.4 GHz processor, 4.3-inch AMOLED display and AT&T's 4G LTE high-speed data network. It's rumored to debut at $100 on contract.
HTC's Titan II is a similar large screen device like the original Titan. It should come with a 4.7-inch screen, 4G LTE and an all new 16 megapixel rear-facing camera. Neither the Titan II or the Lumia 900 have a dual-core processor because Microsoft says the Windows Phone operating system runs just fine in the single core build.
The iPhone 5 looks like it's shaping up to be a 4-inch device with 4G LTE support, according to tech blog 9to5 Mac. A factory worker in China's Foxconn facility was reported to have tipped the Web site to a possible design for the new iPhone. The report added it won't have any tear-drop shape or other radical redesign other than the larger screen. Besides a summer release date, the report did not give specifics for price or availability.
