Describing the logo for the 2012 London Olympics as racist, Iran is threatening to boycott the games.

In a letter to the International Olympic Committee, Iran's National Olympic Committee secretary general believes the logo spells out Zion, which is a biblical term used to refer to Jerusalem.

The logo's 2012 apparently appears similar to the letters Z-I-O-N.

The letter urges other Muslim nations to oppose the racist logo.

Such a response from Iran is not surprising as Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has denied the Holocaust and openly called for the destruction of Israel.

Our response is as follows: The London 2012 logo represents the figure 2012, nothing else, the IOC said.

In the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympics, Iran sent 55 athletes to the Olympics and took home only two medals. Hadi Sadei won a gold medal in Tae Kwon Do and Morad Mohammadi took home a bronze in wrestling.
