Dozens of young Iranian men entered buildings inside the British embassy compound in Tehran on Tuesday, throwing rocks, petrol bombs and burning documents looted from offices, Iranian news agencies reported.

The semi-official Fars news agency said security forces were trying to eject the protesters, who were a minority from a larger group staging an anti-British demonstration outside the compound at the same time.

But live TV pictures showed several of them on top of the entry gate, waving Islamic flags.
