Confidence among Italian manufacturers, retailers and service providers rose in April from March, separate reports from economic think tank ISAE showed Tuesday.

The sentiment indicator for the manufacturing sector climbed to 64.2 in April from 60.9 recorded in March, while the consensus forecast was for a slight increase to 61.3.

The survey that conducted between April 1-20, participating 4,000 companies found that firms are less pessimistic about orders and production.

The indicator that measures retailers' confidence was up to 95.4 from 91.9, a higher reading than the average of the first quarter figures. Further, the gauge for service sector confidence moved up to minus 19 in April from minus 27 in March as assessment regarding orders and the economy improved.
