Italian Consumer Confidence Unexpectedly Jumps in April

Monday, Italian economic think tank ISAE said its gauge for the country's consumer confidence rose to 104.9 in April from 99.8 in March. That was the highest reading since December 2007. Meanwhile, economists had forecast the indicator to remain at 99.8.

The ISAE said the general economic indicator marked a significant increase to 71.6 from 67.7, while the current situation index rose slightly to 111.9 from the previous month's 111.5.

The measure for household's view on personal situation edged down to 119 from 119.1. The short-term economic expectation indicator moved up to 91.4 from 89.8.
