RTTNews - Italy's seasonally adjusted industrial production rose 1.1% month-on-month in April, statistical office Istat said Wednesday. Economists had forecast an increase of 0.8% in April after a fall of revised 4.5% in March. Production rose for the first time in a year.

Compared to the previous year, industrial production was down 24.2% in April after adjusting for calendar variations. It follows a 23.8% contraction in March and was the twelfth straight fall.

The unadjusted industrial output dropped for the ninth consecutive month with a 25.4% fall following another fall of 18.2% in the previous month.
