RTTNews - Italian consumer prices including tobacco rose 0.2% year-on-year in August after posting zero growth in July, a preliminary report from the statistical office Istat showed Monday. Economists had expected the consumer price index or CPI to rise 0.1%.

On a monthly basis, the CPI climbed 0.4% in August versus 0.0% growth in July, while it was forecast to rise 0.2%.

The harmonized index of consumer prices or HICP rose 0.3% on a monthly basis and grew 0.2% on an annual basis.
