RTTNews - Retail sales in Italy dropped 0.4% month-on-month in April, after rising 0.1% in the preceding month, the statistical office ISTAT said Wednesday. Economists expected sales to be flat.

During the month, food sales climbed 0.1%, while non-food retail sales dropped 0.6%.

Year-on-year, retail sales dropped 0.6% in April compared to a 5.2% fall in March, and also slower than economists' expectation of a 2.8% decline.
