RTTNews - Italy's trade deficit decreased to EUR277 million in April from EUR1.02 billion in the previous year, the country's statistical office ISTAT said Thursday. Economists expected a deficit of EUR250 million.

Exports dropped 28.7% year-on-year to EUR23.9 billion, while imports declined 30% to EUR24.2 billion.

Month-on-month, on a seasonally adjusted basis, exports fell 2.9% and imports were down 3.9%.

In the four months ended April, the trade deficit stood at EUR4.7 billion. During this period, exports decreased 24.4% , while imports dropped 24.3%.
