Thursday, Italy's statistical office ISTAT said the consumer price index, or CPI, including tobacco rose 1.2% year-on-year in March after rising 1.6% in February.

Month-on-month, the CPI rose 0.1%, slightly slower than 0.2% increase recorded in the previous month. Thus, the statistical office confirmed its preliminary estimate released on March 31.

Excluding tobacco, the CPI was flat on a monthly basis, while grew 1.1% from the previous year.

At the same time, the ISTAT revised harmonized index of consumer prices, or HICP, figures. The HICP rose 1.2% on a monthly basis and 1.1% annually. Initially, the HICP monthly growth was estimated at 1.1%, while the annual growth at 1%.
