Ever since Apple announced its 3rd generation New iPad, hackers have been working on a jailbreak of the device.

It has also been reported that good progress has been made in the last few days by the hackers and developers in the last few days. Recently, MuscleNerd of iPhone Dev-team has also announced important news regarding a jailbroken iPad.

So who are the involved hackers?

MuscleNerd has confirmed that the procedure that was used four months ago to Jailbreak iPad 2 on iOS 4.3.3 using JailbreakMe 3.0 still works even on iOS 5.1. Here, it is important to note that this procedure has been discovered by i0n1c, and that doesn't mean that you will also be able to jailbreak 5.1 using JailbreakMe 3.0, but that the iPhone Dev-team will be able to use it to jailbreak the new iPad after getting the required kernel dumps.

German hacker i0n1c is reportedly working on iPad 2 jailbreak which is being considered as a promising step in iPad 3rd generation jailbreak. However, it is also being said that the method is completely unrelated to the method mentioned above.

Other reports have suggested that Pod2g has ordered his new iPad and, in the meantime, he's working hard in finding the vulnerabilities on iOS 5.1. The new exploits will be beneficial for both iPad 2 and the New iPad.

What you need to do to jailbreak iPad 3rd Generation?

Remember that all the above progress is related to the current iOS version (iOS 5.1). Apple could release newer version at anytime and, consequently, the company may also deal with all the loopholes in the new iOS version. So if you are willing to jailbreak the new iPad, it is recommended that you don't update your new iPad past whatever iOS it comes shipped with.

Finally, the jailbroken iPad 3rd generation release date?

The jailbreaking procedure is still in a very preliminary stage at the moment and progress is being made in the area and currently it is hard to predict as to how well the things will turn out in the future or when it will be ready for distribution.

Stay tuned for updates.
