The wait is over for Apple fans wanting the next generation iPad. And, with the new iPad, Apple also introduced iOS 5.1, the beta versions of which has already released over the last couple of weeks.

The jailbreakers, iPhone Dev-team, who were already on their toes to jailbreak the latest iOS, finally have found a quick jailbreak specially for who updated to iOS 5.1 using Redsn0w 0.9.10b6 to bring tethered jailbreak 5.1 for non-A5 devices (iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPad 1, iPod Touch 4G, 3G).

According to the iPhone Dev-team blog, this is a tethered 5.1 jailbreak for non-A5 devices. The user needs to use redsn0w to Just Boot the device every time it power cycles to make the jailbreak apps including the Safari work.

Users using ultrasn0w for carrier unlock should use a custom IPSW to get to 5.1 first. They can use redsn0w's Custom IPSW button to create a NO_BB_* version of the 5.1 IPSW and restore to that instead of the stock one, informs the iDev blog.

Ultrasn0w itself will be updated for 5.1 in the next few days. The blog also mentioned that the tethered version can automatically become untethered in case the user has old-bootrom 3GS.

Apple's Latest iOS 5.1

The latest iOS is bringing Japanese language support for Siri. The iOS update is available now and will come out in Japan within next few weeks. According to Apple, the latest iOS 5.1 fixes number of minor bugs present in the last iOS and is expected to bring stability and security improvements.

Early in the morning just before 15 minutes from Apple's event Wednesday, the iPhone Dev Team posted a new article on their blog warning jailbreakers, who already have upgraded to iOS 5.0.1, to refrain from upgrading to iOS 5.1 as that might cause losing the jailbreak.

Was iOS Update Necessary?

iOS 5.0 made its debut with iPhone 4S back in October-2011. Since then, Apple has come under scrutiny for problems related to battery power. With the launch of the latest iOS 5.1 software, now Apple is expected to publicly address the battery-zapping bugs.

Though Apple earlier claimed to have fixed this battery issue in the iOS 5.0.1 software update, yet users seemingly were not happy with the software update and they hit Apple's discussion boards to complain about the update.
