Former Atlanta Falcons running back Jamal Anderson was arrested on DUI charges in DeKalb County, Ga., Sunday morning.

The 39-year-old Jamal Anderson, who was one of the NFL's elite running backs in the 1990s when he played for the Falcons, was pulled over by DeKalb County police after he was observed driving so slow that he was disrupting traffic, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.

The paper said the police report for the incident involving Jamal Anderson was not available as of Tuesday afternoon.

Anderson was pulled over on Chamblee Truckee Road near Interstate 85 around 4:30 a.m. Sunday and booked on driving under the influence charges in the DeKalb County jail, the paper reported.

Jamal Anderson was released from jail after posting bond.

The drunken driving charges are not the only legal troubles for Jamal Anderson.

The former Falcons running back was allegedly observed by an off-duty police officer snorting cocaine in the bathroom of a bar in Buckhead, Ga., according to the Journal-Constitution.

Anderson was arrested on cocaine and marijuana possession charges following the alleged incident, although those charges were eventually dismissed.

Aside from his on-the-field accolades, which included the NFC rushing title and Pro Bowl selection, both in 1998, Anderson is known for his Dirty Bird touchdown celebration that the team rallied around.

In fact, Anderson's Twitter handle, @jamthedirtybird, makes reference to the Dirty Bird dance. Anderson has more than 40,000 followers on the micro-blogging site.

Anderson retired in 2001 due to a knee injury and played eight seasons, all for the Falcons.
