James Deen may have had only favorable things to say about Lindsay Lohan when he was doing promotional interviews for “The Canyons,” but now that the film has been snubbed by both the Sundance Film Festival and SXSW due to “quality issues,” Deen is ready to share his real feelings – and they’re not pretty.

According to The Sun, Deen has starred in more than 4,000 porn films, but he said he was unprepared for what was in store when he and Lohan finally filmed love scenes for “The Canyons.”

“There were days when she would scream and yell and cry and refuse to come out," he said. "In porn I am used to working with professionals who are courteous to others. But Lindsay was like a child lashing out."

In the months leading up to “The Canyons” premiere, many fans of Lohan’s professed hopes that it might be a long-anticipated comeback for the troubled star, who has attracted more attention for her legal troubles than for her acting in recent years. But Lohan’s erratic and frequently unprofessional behavior on the film’s set was recently chronicled in the New York Times article, “Here is what happens when you cast Lindsay Lohan in your movie.”

The article, which quickly went viral after its publication, detailed Lohan’s numerous antics during production, including frequently showing up late to work and getting nervous and emotional for scenes that required nudity, even though she knew what she was getting into in advance.

Although the film was something of a breakout role for Deen, who is trying to move away from porn, he said he felt perfectly comfortable filming the scenes, but that his calm unnerved Lohan.

“As an adult film star I felt totally at home,” he told The Sun. “I had worked with the other actress countless times and because we were relaxed Lindsay became unnerved. She started to get more and more freaked out."

Deen mentioned one scene in particular, a four-way sex scene, that made Lohan especially upset.

"We were all standing round naked and the next thing Lindsay was screaming, 'Put your clothes on. For the love of God put your clothes on,'" he said. "So we all put our robes on. But then she sat on the bed topless. When I asked her why, she said she was 'allowed to.' With that I dropped my towel and she stormed off set. She then refused to return until the entire crew stripped."

However, to Lohan’s credit, Deen said that once she got into the scene she was a “natural,” saying, “We actually shot the scene in one take in just 14 minutes.”

But Deen said the nude scenes weren’t the only thing that pushed Lohan over the edge. He cited another incident where Paul Schrader, the director, asked her to remove her shoes so she could be of more of an even height with Deen.

“It was a simple request,” Deen said. “I am a short guy and it looked ridiculous with her towering over me in seven-inch heels… But she refused. She was crying and screaming that she was the star of the film.”

As with other “freakouts,” Deen said Schrader eventually appeased Lohan, letting her keep her shoes on and instead making Deen wear boots with a heel.

Despite the difficulties of working together, Deen said he held no grudges towards Lohan. “She is a product of the Hollywood system,” he said. “She is so fragile you can’t help but feel for her.”
