It’s official: Jamie Dornan is the new Christian Grey for the “Fifty Shades of Grey” movie after Charlie Hunnam dropped out of the film. Dornan’s name began to trend on Twitter instantly after news broke, with fans surprisingly being happy that the actor was chosen as the lead to play the self-obsessed Seattle billionaire with a penchant for BDSM. The Irish actor is also known for appearing in “Marie Antoinette” with Kirsten Dunst and most recently in “The Fall,” a psychological thriller that follows the lives of two hunters.

With just days before the movie was supposed to start filming, Hunnam left the project, but a source told E! Online that Dakota Johnson, who plays the unforgettable Anastasia Steele in the film, would be able to adapt to whomever producers chose as Hunnam’s replacement.

Many who were never all that interested in “Fifty Shades of Grey” said they would see the film just because Irish actor was now on board. "The studio isn't worried about Dakota," the source added. "They think she could handle whoever the guy is."

It hasn’t been announced how much Dornan, known for his role in “Once Upon a Time,” will make for his role in the movie. Hunnam was reportedly offered $250,000, which was rumored to be a reason the “Sons of Anarchy” star shied away from the film. According to producer Michael De Luca, the project is still on target to begin filming Nov. 1 for an Aug. 1, 2014, release date.

When Hunnam was announced as Christian Grey on Sept. 2, it wasn’t long before fans started a petition, and gained thousands of signatures, in order to get him off the film. Fans seem to be at ease with Dornan, however, and are expressing extra interest in seeing the film.
