Jana Duggar’s Rumored Boyfriend’s Family Responds To Courtship Talk

Jana Duggar is not spoken for just yet, this according to her rumored boyfriend Lawson Bates’ family.

Following rumors Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar’s oldest daughter is attached to their longtime family friend’s 24-year-old son, Gil and Kelly Jo Bates have responded to the courtship speculation.

“I think that probably Lawson and Jana would both be shocked by that news, although we have heard that rumor,” Kelly told the Bates Family Blog. While the mother of 19 says Jana and her son are friendly, she confirmed there is no romance between them.

“They are very good friends but no courtships that either of our families are aware of,” she said.

The Duggar family’s trip to see the Bates last month in Tennessee may have sparked the courtship rumor. On March 29, the family started posting shots from their family road trip. Since that date, the brood has continued to share vacation photos.

Lawson could also be to blame. As an April Fools’ Day joke he posted a photo of himself in a suit and sporting a wedding ring on his official Facebook page. “If guys acted like girls,” Lawson captioned the image.

Fans of the Duggars’ “Counting On” TLC show have long awaited Jana to enter into a courtship. However, the 27-year-old doesn’t seem in a rush to get married.

“I know how it feels to wait for ‘Prince Charming’ to come along. I’m still waiting. Waiting is not always easy. Especially in those times when all the married siblings are getting together and you can’t go along because your not part of ‘that’ group,” she recently told Crown of Beauty magazine.

“But waiting doesn’t mean sitting and literally waiting. No, we need to be busy with where God has us and being content and joyfully serving Jesus there. My parents have always encouraged each of us to serve those around us.”
