Jane the Virgin
Will Jane (Gina Rodriguez) and Rafael (Justin Baldoni) be ready to rekindle their past feelings when “Jane the Virgin” Season 4 returns? The CW

Will Jane Gloriana Villanueva (Gina Rodriguez) and Rafael Solano (Justin Baldoni) ever get back together? Fans are really hoping so after Rodriguez posted a throwback “Jafael” photo on Instagram.

Some fans pleaded with Rodriguez not to get their hopes up for nothing, while some wanted to see Rafael end up with his ex-wife, Petra (Yael Grobglas). But many were thrilled to see the photo since it hinted that Jane would be rekindling her past romance with Rafael.

Whatever the case, their huge kiss before the fourth season of “Jane the Virgin” went on a winter break will be tackled when the show returns this year. In the promo for the next episode, Rafael confesses to Jane that he wasn’t really planning on kissing her. Next, he happily tells Alba (Ivonne Col) that he kissed Jane. The delighted look on Alba’s face only showed that she approves.

But there’s no guaranteeing that the kiss will reunite them, as steamy as it might be. In one scene, the two finally have a serious talk and where Rafael tells Jane about the “possibility of us.” Rafael confesses that their getting back together has been there on the back of his mind for a long time.

“I just don’t think I can let it go,” he admitted. The pained expression on Jane’s face means things will not go down smoothly.

When they do get back together, Rafael has to win over Jane’s dad, Rogelio De La Vega (Jaime Camil), who formed a very close bond with her late husband, Michael Cordero (Brett Dier).

Camil told Bustle that these two “devastatingly good-looking [men]” might even form a bond similar to what Rogelio had with Michael. However, it will take time to develop.

“I think, eventually, [Rogelio] will understand that Rafael is Mateo’s dad and he needs to be around and he’s changing,” the actor explained. “He’s becoming a more responsible guy, not so much of playboy, and, of course, eventually that’s going to surface in Rogelio’s heart for Rafael.”

“Jane the Virgin” Season 4 airs Fridays at 9 p.m. EST on The CW.
