“Jane the Virgin” star Justin Baldoni has a way with words, and he recently put this to good use when he posted a tribute for his wife, Emily, and daughter, Maiya, during International Women’s Day.

Baldoni posted a photo of Maiya on his Instagram page and detailed how her birth made him fall in love with his wife anew. He said that he only learned what it is to be a man because of his wife and daughter, and he lauded the “sheer power, strength, and resilience of the feminine.”

This was not the first time Baldoni raved about the two women in his life. He earlier wrote an op-ed piece for Zap2It stating that it takes a real man to empower a woman. He said that his views on masculinity drastically changed after his daughter Maiya was born.

“When my daughter was born, I got the chance to witness my wife become a superhero. Moments later I got to stare into the soul of the new love of my life … my daughter, Maiya,” he wrote. “I will never forget that experience — everything that I thought mattered in life suddenly became irrelevant and my whole world shifted. If I was at all interested in the advancement and empowerment of women before my little Maiya came into this world, I was going to turn it up to hyper-speed now.”

As happy as Baldoni is with his personal life, the same cannot be said of his onscreen character, Rafael Solano. The hotelier just can’t seem to catch a break when it comes to love, and his latest ex-girlfriend Abby Whitman (Minka Kelly) even caused some trouble after he broke up with her.

Baldoni told Entertainment Tonight that it will be a fun ride watching Abby stir up some trouble for Rafael and his family. “The Abby character is hilarious and you’ll see where it’s going in a few episodes. It’s a very fun story and it’s interesting to see what happens between her and Rafael, and the dynamic between the two baby mamas,” he said.

“Jane the Virgin” Season 3 airs every Monday at 9 p.m. EST on The CW.
