You have to hand it to Anezka — she really did a good job impersonating her twin sister Petra that nobody noticed that she placed her sister in a coma and pulled off the classic switcheroo, not even Petra’s former husband, Rafael Solano (Justin Baldoni).

It was only eagle-eyed Jane Villanueva (Gina Rodriguez) who managed to catch on to her trick, but even then, Jane wasn’t 100 percent sure Anezka impersonated her sister.

Yael Grobglas, the actress who played both Petra and Anezka, said that despite Anezka’s evil plan, she made sure fans can still differentiate Petra from Anezka. Despite their similar looks, Grobglas told Vanity Fair that there are ways to tell the twins apart. Petra prefers wearing tight-fitting clothes and high heels, while Anezka feels comfortable wearing high-top sneakers.

“And so it’s almost as if the moment I put on the shoes and I get into that physicality of the two separate characters, you can’t really confuse them,” she said.

Even when Anezka was pretending to be Petra, Grobglas made sure fans can still tell them apart. “I added little things like, you know, she doesn’t know how to walk in heels, so once in a while she kind of bobs around on her heels a little bit — even as Petra,” Grobglas said. “Little giveaways like that.”

Earlier, Grobglas told Deadline that “Jane the Virgin” writers came up with a pretty good backstory on how the twins’ mother Magda contacted Anezka and hatched her evil plan. “We will have to unpack that in season 3,” she said.

Meanwhile, the show’s title will change from now on, since lead star Jane is no longer a virgin. Showrunner Jennie Snyder Urman told The Hollywood Reporter that they’re going to put interesting twists to the title week after week, depending on the storyline. “We're keeping the title but with changes, like a line crossed through, like ‘Jane the Guilty Catholic,’” she explained.

“Jane the Virgin” Season 3 airs every Monday at 9 p.m. EST on The CW.
