The slump in Japan's machine tool orders continued in March with an 84.5% year-on-year decline, the Japan Machine Tool Builders' Association said Thursday. It follows an 84.4% fall in February. However, on a monthly basis, orders rose 7.7% in March.

Domestic orders plummeted 86.8% and foreign orders dropped 82.6% from the previous year. Month-on-month orders from home rose 1.6%, while grew 11.9% from overseas.
