Japan's domestic automobile sales dropped 28.6% year-on-year in April to 166,365 units from 232,993 units a year earlier, the Japan Automobile Dealers' Association said Friday. In March, vehicle sales declined 31.5%.

During the January-April period, domestic vehicle sales slipped 30.5% to 881,921 units from the corresponding period in the previous year. The cumulative total for the first four months of the last year totaled 1,268,990.
