RTTNews - Tuesday, a report from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport showed a 30.8% decrease in Japanese housing starts for the month of May compared to April's 32.4% annual decline. Economists were expecting an annual fall of 27.7% for May.

At the same time, annualized housing starts stood at 758,000, down from 779,000 in April.

Construction orders received by the 50 big contractors declined 41.9% in May from the previous year, severe than the 25.9% drop recorded in April.
