The Japanese currency edged down across the board on Tuesday morning in Asia.

The yen tumbled to a new multi-month low of 73.53 against the Australian dollar by 7:50 pm ET, compared to 73.27 hit late New York Monday. The pair is currently quoted at 73.38.

The Japanese currency dropped to a weekly low of 134.35 against the euro and 88.71 versus the Swiss franc during this time. On the downside, the yen is likely to find target levels of 136.5 and 90.4, respectively. The yen was worth 88.36 against the Swiss franc and 133.82 versus the euro at Monday's North American close.

The yen plummeted to an 8-day low of 149.34 against the UK's sterling, 82.45 versus the Canada's loonie and 59.55 against the New Zealand's kiwi by 7:50 pm ET. This may be compared to Monday's New York session closing values of 148.73, 82.10 and 59.35, respectively. On the downside, the yen is likely to find support levels of 83 versus the Canadian dollar, 61.6 against the NZ dollar and 151.8 against the pound.

The Japanese unit also declined against the US dollar, easing to 100.44 by 7:50 pm ET. The greenback-yen pair that closed Monday's New York trading at 100.11 is currently quoted near 100.3 with 100.5 seen as the next target level.
