RTTNews - Japan's convenience store sales rose in May, but supermarket sales declined, two separate reports showed Monday.

Data released by the Japan Franchise Association showed that convenience store sales grew 1% year-on-year in May after rising 4.3%in April. Sales grew for the thirteenth straight month.

On the same day, the Japan Chain Stores Association said supermarket sales fell 2% annually in May. This follows a 3.7% contraction in the previous month.
