Monday, a report from Japan's Economic and Social Research Institute said the leading index decreased to 75.2 in February from 77.2 in the previous month. Economists expected the indicator to come in at 75.3.
At the same time, the coincident index declined to 86.8 from 89.5 in January. Economists expected a reading of 86.9.
Meanwhile, the lagging index dropped to 90.5 in February from 91.3 in the preceding month.
The leading index has been a declining trend since October 2008, while the coincident index has been so from August last year. The lagging index has been declining since April last year.
