RTTNews - Japan's nationwide department store sales continued to decline for the fifteenth straight month in May as worries regarding income and rising unemployment reduced household spending.

According to the Japan Department Stores Association, sales at nationwide department stores declined 12.3% year-on-year in May after falling 11.3% in April.

Similarly, sales at Tokyo's 28 major outlets operated by 13 companies fell 14% in May from the previous year. This follows an 11.9% contraction in the previous month.
