Jason Aldean and Brittany Kerr tied the knot only a week ago, but the singing couple is already planning to take their relationship to the next level. During their first public appearance as husband and wife at the iHeartRadio Music Awards presentation in Los Angeles Sunday, Aldean, 38, spoke out about his plans for kids with Kerr, 27.

“In the next couple of years, probably, we definitely want to have kids,” Aldean told People magazine.

According to Aldean, his two daughters with ex-wife Jessica Ussery -- Keeley, 12, and Kendyl, 7 -- are “pumped” about the idea of welcoming more siblings into their family. “They want a brother, so we’ll see what we can do about that,” Aldean said.

The children’s excitement over their dad’s second marriage to the Season 11 “American Idol” contestant was apparent on the Us Weekly cover of April 6. The magazine featured the couple’s first official wedding photo. In the image, Aldean’s two children can be seen smiling and hugging the “Burnin’ It Down” singer and his new wife while sporting pink-colored dresses.

According to Us Weekly, the couple married in Playa del Carmen, Mexico, March 21. The duo reportedly said their vows in front of family and friends. Kerr, who wore a Pnina Tornai gown, walked down the aisle to John Legend’s hit ballad “All of Me.”

While the couple is still in their honeymoon stage -- Aldean told People their “life is a honeymoon” -- their relationship hasn’t always been easy. Their romance first came to light in September 2012 after Aldean was spotted kissing Kerr at a bar in L.A. while he was still legally married to Ussery, his wife of over 10 years. The following month, Ussery filed for divorce, citing irreconcilable difference.

After his alleged affair, Aldean apologized for his actions. In March of the following year, it was revealed he had continued his romance with Kerr. After years of backlash over his relationship with the former reality-television personality, the country singer popped the question to Kerr during a visit to the San Diego Zoo in September.
