Jay-Z has allegedly told Rihanna that she can date Chris Brown again, but has less kind words for Brown.

According to Perez Hilton, Jay-Z, who started Rihanna’s career in 2005 when he signed her to Def Jam Recordings, told the star that "if Chris truly makes her happy then go for it."

Over the summer, Rihanna spoke with talk show host Oprah. She admitted that she still feels strongly for Brown, even though he placed her in the hospital in 2009 after brutally assaulting her.

“I was hurt the most. Nobody felt what I felt ... like ... it happened to me and it happened to me in front of the world. It was embarrassing, it was humiliating, it was hurtful, you know? It's not easy. I lost my best friend. Like everything I knew switched in a night ... switched in a night and I couldn't control that," Rihanna tearfully told Oprah during the candid talk.

Although Rihanna and Chris Brown broke up after the assault, they have been working on their friendship, and recently, spent several days together while the two stars were in New York. Brown and Rihanna even attended a concert performance by Jay-Z.

While at the concert, a source told Perez Hilton that "He [Jay-Z] invited them as a couple to his concert in New York and backstage he called Chris to one side and told him if he hurts Rihanna, whether emotionally or physically, it’s over for him. He’ll ensure it will result in the end of his career.”

Meanwhile, Rihanna recently opened up in the latest issue of Vogue magazine, and spoke about the constant media interest in her relationship with Brown.

“I don’t know if people will stop soon, but I feel like as soon as they have closure to it, they will.

"But they’re not on the inside. They can’t see what I see, unless they’re sitting in my point of view. I guess I’ll learn to accept that,” Rihanna admitted.
