Jaycee Lee Dugard's family has finally spoken to the media. Her aunt Tina Dugard talked to the media in Los Angeles and read out a written statement on Thursday .

She said the family was overjoyed over the reunion.

Jaycee is a remarkable young woman who has raised two beautiful daughters, said Tina Dugard. They are clever, articulate, curious girls who have a bright future ahead of them.

This is a joyful time for my family, she said. Jaycee remembers all of us.

The Dugard’s family statement also thanked the law enforcement and social agencies involved in reconnecting them.

Their support and professionalism have been invaluable, the statement said.

Jaycee Lee Dugard was kidnapped in 1991 from a bus stop near her home in South Lake Tahoe, California, and discovered alive last week.

Jaycee Dugard’s two daughters, one fifteen year old and the other eleven year old have been told in family reunion that Jaycee was their mother and not their sister as they were made to believe.

A trust fund has been established for donations to help Jaycee Lee Dugard, the aunt said.
