“Teen Mom 2” star Jenelle Evans wants to win custody of her eldest son, Jace, from her mother, Barbara Evans. The reality star set a court date but likely will face obstacles that will make the process difficult, Radar Online wrote in an exclusive report Tuesday. Jenelle signed over custody of Jace in 2011.

Jenelle, 23, is the bad-girl of “Teen Mom 2,” and even though she wants to have legal custody of Jace, 5, it’s not going to be easy. For one, she has a volatile relationship with fiancé Nathan Griffith, the father of her 13-month-old son, Kaiser. “Jenelle does want Jace back, but the process is always held up by something. Either she is dealing with Nathan, or just can’t get it together. But she could get him back now,” an insider told Radar Online. “Jenelle really wants to try and be a full-time mother with Jace.”

The mother-of-two admitted during a Facebook Q&A last Thursday that she and Nathan don’t have the most stable relationship. “Our relationship will never be perfect, but we do love each other and take things day by day,” she said.

Jenelle, who is a graduate of Miller Mott Technical College, set a court date for Tuesday, Aug. 4, in North Carolina, to win custody back from her mother. “Jenelle has been saying that she wants to get custody of Jace back for years, and now she’s really going to have the opportunity to do so,” the source said.

Even though the date is set, there is some doubt that she will follow through with the process. "She has to actually go ahead and get it done, and she just hasn’t so far,” the anonymous person said. “This is a hearing that will most likely just be continued… So nothing really could happen.”

Jenelle said her life with two children is “hectic” during the Facebook Q&A, and that’s with only having legal custody of one of them. She even said that she would like to have a third child in the future, a baby girl, but she isn’t in a rush to get pregnant again.

Though she’s taking her mother to court, things between Barbara and Jenelle seem to be amicable. The reality star posted a photo of herself, Jace and Barbara to Twitter after she graduated from college Thursday. “Thanks to my family for being here as my biggest support system and able to push me through it and to chase my goals no matter what obstacles may come up,” she wrote.

“Teen Mom 2” Season 6, episode 4 will air Thursday at 10 p.m. EDT on MTV.
