Jennifer Lawrence has reached the pinnacle of success in her Hollywood career, but that doesn’t mean her journey hasn’t been muddled with inappropriate requests and demeaning experiences.

While attending Elle’s Women in Hollywood event sponsored by Calvin Klein and L’Oréal Paris, the actress reflected on some of her worst experiences during the early days of her career in the movie industry. Lawrence, who is now 27-years-old with an Academy Award win under her belt, revealed she was told to lose weight for a role when she was beginning her acting career, according to People.

“When I was much younger and starting out, I was told by producers of a film to lose 15 pounds in two weeks,” she said, addressing the audience.

The “Mother!” star was informed that the actress who previously held the role was let go of production because she couldn’t lose the weight fast enough. In addition to dropping several pounds, Lawrence was forced to get nude in order to participate in a lineup.

“During this time a female producer had me do a nude line-up with about five women who were much, much, thinner than me. We are stood side-by-side with only tape on covering our privates,” she explained.

“After that degrading and humiliating line-up, the female producer told me I should use the naked photos of myself as inspiration for my diet,” the actress continued.

When Lawrence took her concerns about the mortifying experience to another the producer, she was once again met by some harsh words. Rather than empathize with the actress, the producer told Lawrence that he didn’t understand why everyone thought she was “so fat” and hinted he thought she was good enough to sleep with.

The actress said she felt “trapped” following the events that took place. “I let myself be treated a certain way because I felt I had to for my career,” she explained.

The actress revealed that she has learned a lot over the years. “I’m still learning that I don’t have to smile when a man makes me uncomfortable,” she said.

“Every human being should have the power to be treated with respect because they’re human,” she added.

This is not the first time that Lawrence has been vocal when it comes to inappropriate behavior in Hollywood. The actress previously called out movie producer Harvey Weinstein after several women accused him of sexual harassment and assault.

“I was deeply disturbed to hear the news about Harvey Weinstein’s behavior,” she said in a statement.

Although Lawrence wasn’t a victim of Weinstein’s, she was hurt for the women who experienced it. “I worked with Harvey five years ago and I did not experience any form of harassment personally, nor did I know about any of these allegations. This kind of abuse is inexcusable and absolutely upsetting.”

“My heart goes out to all of the women affected by these gross actions. And I want to thank them for their bravery to come forward,” she added.

Weinstein has since denied accusations of sexual misconduct. “Any allegations of non-consensual sex are unequivocally denied by Mr. Weinstein,” a spokesperson for Weinstein said in a statement.

While Lawrence seems more than willing to take a stand for women, fans should not expect to see much more of her in the next two years. In September, the starlet announced she plans on taking a much needed break from Hollywood.
