Britney Spears is out and now “X Factor” producer and judge, Simon Cowell, is looking for a replacement. Us Weekly reported Thursday that 34-year-old actress, Jennifer Love Hewitt, is being eyed to fill the role.

“Simon is very interested,” said a source regarding Lifetime’s “The Client List” star. Despite the claim, a rep for the reality singing competition said the report is “pure speculation.”

Hewitt isn’t the only female star in the running for the coveted judging position. Kelly Rowland of Destiny’s Child fame and country singer, Reba McEntire, are also rumored to be contenders.

Hewitt is apparently already a fan with TV viewers. The actress's visit to The Ellen DeGeneres show on April 19 garnered over 15 million visitors and thousands of comments on the comedian’s  website after Hewitt sported a revealing dress during the interview.

Pop singing sensation, Britney Spears, reportedly quit the series because she wanted to refocus her career and create more music. Contrary to Spears’s claims, an inside source on the show told The Hollywood Reporter the singer didn’t voluntarily leave.

“Spears was not going to be asked back and so she will not return for season three,” said the source.

“X Factor” host L.A. Reid left his role as a judge on the hit FOX reality series after the shows second season ended earlier this year. Reid said the show was conflicting with his position as chairman of Epic Records.

“I have to go back and I have a company to run that I’ve kind of neglected and it saddens me a little bit, but only a little bit,” said Reid, who said he may revisit the idea of coming back to the show at a later date.

Judge and Disney alumnus, Demi Lovato, originally quit the show admitting she wasn’t prepared to work so soon after attending rehab for bulimia and substance abuse issues in 2011, only to soon after announcing that she would be returning.

“I couldn’t be happier that Demi wants to come back this year,” said Cowell. “She’s a superstar in her own right and was a fantastic mentor last year. Even though she can be really, really annoying—I truly enjoyed working with her and so did the artists,” he said.

One time “X Factor” host and reality TV personality, Khloe Kardashian, was fired from her position this week, leaving Mario Lopez as the sole host of the popular series. The “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” star said it was her busy schedule that kept her from returning.
