The men of BBC’s “Top Gun” are returning to television. Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May have signed a deal with Amazon Prime for a new a car show. Clarkson announced the news on Twitter on Thursday.

The trio have signed on for three seasons, the first of which is set to begin production soon and is scheduled to premiere in 2016. The as of now untitled series will be produced by former “Top Gun” executive producer Andy Wilman.

“I feel like I’ve climbed out of a biplane and into a spaceship,” said Clarkson about working with Amazon in a statement.

In March, the BBC opted not to renew Clarkson’s contract after he got into a fight with “Top Gear” producer Oisin Tymon. Hammond, Mays and Wilman also left “Top Gear” after Clarkson’s departure. “Top Gear” ran for 22 seasons.

This new show is a great get for Amazon, who has been steadily increasing the number of show under its belt in order to compete with Netflix and other distributors. The Amazon original series “Transparent” won two Golden Globe Awards in 2015 and is nominated for 11 Primetime Emmy Awards. In 2013, BBC cancelled “Ripper Street,” but then Amazon swooped in and resurrected the series for a third season, which premiered on Amazon UK Prime Instant Video in 2014.

“Customers told us they wanted to see the team back on screen, and we are excited to that happen,” Jay Marine, vice president of Amazon Prime Video EU said in a statement. “Millions of Prime members are already enjoying our ground-breaking original shows. We can’t wait to see what Jeremy, Richard, James and the team will create in what is sure to be one of the most globally anticipated shows of 2016.”
