Jeremy Meeks is not dead, but plenty of the people on the Internet thought the jailhouse hunk had perished after Huzlers, a satirical news site, reported the Facebook “hottie” as being dead.

The rumor claimed the “Blue-eyed bandit” was shot dead by his “jealous” wife an hour after he was released from prison. Since his mugshot went viral on Facebook, Meeks has become an Internet celebrity and even landed a modeling gig for when he is released from prison.

Rumors of his demise seem to be without merit since Meeks has not been released from prison. Part of the Huzlers story read:

“According to jail records, Jeremy Meek was released from jail just before midnight on Tuesday night. About an hour later, just before 1 a.m. on Wednesday morning, Stockton Police found him laying in the road in the area of Dayton and West in Central Stockton. He was taken to Community Regional Medical Center where he died from his wounds shortly after arriving.

The story added wife Lashanda Meeks was apparently arrested for the alleged killing. His apparent death, however, is widely believed to just be a sick joke, especially because the only one reporting on it is a satirical news site.

At the bottom of its page, Huzlers describes itself as "a combination of real shocking news and satire news to keep its visitors in a state of disbelief.” Still, the article was shared hundreds of thousands of times on Facebook, the Epoch Times wrote Saturday.

Meeks was arrested last June on a single charge of a felon in possession of a firearm and could lead him to spend 10 years in prison, Sacremento's News 10 added.
