Jerry Seinfeld finally responded Thursday to the now-viral video of him rejecting a hug from pop singer Kesha on the red carpet for a charity event in Washington D.C. earlier this week. It's nothing against Kesha, but the comedian simply doesn't feel comfortable hugging strangers.

"I’m 63, I don’t know every pop star… I don’t know everyone," Seinfeld shared with Extra. Seinfeld spoke with the publication about the incident as a way to ease the tension for anyone who happened to witness the very awkward exchange.

"When you get to be my age and you’ve done a couple things, you have your own reality. In my reality, I don’t hug a total stranger," he said. "I have to meet someone, say hello. I have to start somewhere."

During the exchange in question, Seinfeld was in the middle of doing an interview Monday night on the red carpet with a D.C. based news outlet. Suddenly, Kesha interrupted the interview to express her love for the actor/comedian. When she asked to give him a hug, he simply responded with "no thanks" three times. After she awkwardly exited the interview, Seinfeld stated that he wished the best for her as he was still flattered by her admiration for him.

"I was right in the middle of an interview," Seinfeld added. "It was a little off."

Although he realized that Kesha may have been a fan of his television work and is "flattered" by it, he explained that "the TV only works one way. I can't see who's watching."

Despite his belief that he may have a "borderline harassment case" on his hands, he believes that he probably "would've liked" Kesha once they had become better acquainted.

The "Seinfeld" star had also revealed the exchange he had with Kesha off of the red carpet. The pair cleared the air about their awkward first meeting earlier Monday ending.

"She was very nice about it," he said. "We laughed about it."

When asked whether or not Kesha got a hug from him after they became better acquainted, he simply answered "No!"

At this time, Kesha still has not publicly addressed the now viral exchange.

While Seinfeld may not have known who Kesha was at the time, he is definitely familiar with the Kardashian/Jenner clan. Likewise, his familiarity with the popular reality television family has led him to forbid his children from watching "Keeping Up With The Kardashians."

"The one time I really, really got upset was when my daughter was watching the Kardashians on her phone in her bed and I could not take that scene," Seinfeld shared in a Thursday interview with Mr. Porter's The Journal. "For someone who for their whole life, television was the Olympics of being a comedian. It was only for the very best. You had to have everything. You had to go through all the different hierarchies of your career to get to television."

Seinfeld was not afraid to hold back his strong dislike for reality television. Catching his 16-year-old daughter — Sascha — watching "KUWTK" ultimately caused the comedian to lose his "temper."

"I’m offended by reality television on many levels and that show, of course, is the premier example of reality television," he added. "These people are not doing anything interesting. I lost my temper with that one."
