“Grey’s Anatomy” star Jesse Williams appeared on CNN Sunday to discuss the death of Michael Brown, the unarmed Ferguson, Missouri, teen who was shot and killed by a police officer. The actor talked about African-Americans being treated differently by authorities and how the media apparently isn’t telling the full story.

“I think we have to talk about the narrative and make sure we’re starting at the beginning. You will find that people doing the oppressing often want to start the narrative at a convenient point,” Williams, 33, said. “This started with a kid getting shot and killed and left in the street for four hours. I’ve never seen a white body left in the heat for four hours in the sweltering heat.”

“There’s a lot of bizarre behavior going on,” he said. “That’s why we need journalism.”

The actor lived in suburbs that were predominately white for most of his life and said he saw people being treated differently for their crimes. "I know plenty of white kids that steal stuff from convenience stores," Williams said. "There is this idea that every time a black person does something they automatically become a thug worthy of their own death."

“The rest of us are not treated like human beings. Period,” the actor said. “That needs to be discussed. That is the story.”

After his appearance on the news show, he took to Twitter where he continued his argument.

The actor and activist received attention from Twitter users who mostly agreed what the Hollywood entertainer had to say about the incident.
