Krysten Ritter has good reason to celebrate Sunday night. The 34-year-old actress is nominated for a Critics' Choice Award for Best Actress in a Drama Series for her role on “Jessica Jones” – and the Netflix series was just picked up for a second season!

“It’s been a real nail biter couple of weeks,” Ritter confessed to Critics’ Choice red carpet hosts Samantha Harris and Kevin Frazier about the Season 2 renewal.

“Jessica Jones is very rough around the edges,” Ritter, who plays the title character, said, citing the character’s drinking and promiscuous behavior. And while the role is fun for the actress, she added that overall it’s “very exciting to be in the Marvel family” because the show is something that they’ve never done before – a psychological thriller.

Season 1 of “Jessica Jones” premiered on the streaming service in November. A premiere date for Season 2 has not been released yet, but Netflix chief content officer Ted Sarandos revealed at the Television Critics Association’s winter press tour that production on their upcoming series “The Defenders” will “determine” when new episodes are released.

The 21st annual Critics’ Choice Awards is held at the Barker Hanger in Santa Monica, California. The awards show kicks off at 8 p.m. EST. Click HERE for live stream information and HERE for a list of nominees.
