Jessica Simpson had her baby shower on Sunday, and an Us Weekly report suggests that the event -- with its pink and yellow color scheme -- was the girly-girl type of soiree it should be.

She seemed completely ecstatic, an eyewitness told the magazine of the singer and businesswoman.

Simpson was also in good company. Celebrity moms at the event included sister Ashlee Simpson, Jessica Alba and Ellen Pompeo of Grey's Anatomy. The younger Simpson brought her son, Bronx, and Alba brought her baby daughter, Haven.

Simpson, who donned a blue dress with a snakeskin pattern, has been getting a great deal of flak for her large size.

Twitter is filled with comments about her pregnancy weight, including speculation about its duration and how many children she's actually having (one, for the record).

I think Jessica Simpson might be the next octomom #sopregnant, one woman tweeted.

Simpson told Elle magazine -- for which she posed nude with a very pregnant belly à la Demi Moore for Vanity Fair -- that she is doing just fine despite the criticism. She is instead concerned about her daughter's style sense, and hopes her little one will take after her fashion-conscientious mom and not her father, former football player Eric Johnson.

I swear, I will croak if she asks me for a pair of Nikes instead of Christian Louboutins, she told the magazine. Eric is so athletic. We're gonna have this athletic girl and I won't even be able to take her shopping.

Shoe concerns, indeed. Simpson hasn't been shy about continuing to wear super high heels during her last trimester, much like fellow singer Beyoncé.

Simpson walked proudly in eight-inch heels for an interview on The Ellen DeGeneres Show.

It's all for fashion, for the show, she said, referring to the new television show Fashion Star, for which she serves as a mentor to aspiring designers.

Fortunately, she was wearing flat rubber boots on Saturday.

She and Johnson were walking in Venice when a palm tree branch fell down about two feet in front of them, E! reported.

Compared to what Simpson has been through, motherhood should be a breeze!
