“Gossip Girl” alum Ed Westwick is not in a good place right now after some women came forward and accused him of rape. When his former co-star Jessica Szohr heard of the news, she was nothing short of “shocked.”

The actress was questioned about the rape allegations during an interview with Cosmopolitan. She confessed that she does not see Westwick as a rapist, but she could not really brush aside the allegations against him because “I wasn’t there.”

“I have to be so careful, because it’s not my situation and I don’t — I wasn’t there,” Szohr said. “So it’s hard to speak on behalf of those girls or him.”

The actress said she was “shocked” by the news, because the accusations do not really fit “the Ed I know.” But she is not dismissing the women’s claims because “I wasn’t there for those situations and I don’t know.”

“If you’re asking me, ‘Do I think he would do that to someone?’ No, I don’t. But was I there? No,” she said.

“He’s going through a difficult time,” Szohr further commented on her meeting with the actor. “He’s being accused of something that he’s publicly saying he didn’t do. So it’s, you know, tough on him. His show got canceled. You know, he’s like, ‘The truth will come out and hopefully people see that and hopefully that’s it.’ It’s just such an unfortunate thing all around.”

Actress Kristina Cohen and former actress Aurélie Wynn were the ones who accused Westwick of rape on their social media accounts. On the other hand, creative producer Rachel Eck claimed that Westwick “aggressively groped” her breasts at a Hollywood hotel.

Westwick has adamantly denied these claims. Shortly after Cohen accused him, he issued this statement on Twitter.

Because of the accusations, Westwick’s involvement in the “White Gold” series has been halted. BBC has also pulled out his “Ordeal By Innocence,” according to Entertainment Weekly.

Westwick said he is now cooperating with the authorities so the truth will come out. “It is disheartening and sad to me that as a result of two unverified and provably untrue social media claims, there are some in this environment who could ever conclude I have had anything to do with such vile and horrific conduct,” Westwick wrote in a previously released statement. “I have absolutely not, and I am cooperating with the authorities so that they can clear my name as soon as possible.”
