"Harry Potter" author J.K. Rowling turned 47 Tuesday with some exciting news for her fans. Rowling will participate in a live webcast on Oct. 11, The Mary Sue reports, answering questions from young fans about Potter and the wizarding world she created with her seven-book series.

The webcast is part of the new Harry Potter Reading Club website launched Tuesday by Scholastic, Publisher's Weekly reports. The website was created to offer supplementary materials to teachers and others who work with children who are reading the series. The site is also where you can watch the webcast this October.

This Q&A session will be the first opportunity Potter fans have had to ask Rowling questions about her work since 2007, when "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows" was released, concluding the series. A lot has happened in the intervening five years in the Potterverse, including the release of the final three Potter movies, the opening of The Wizarding World of Harry Potter theme park, and the performance of the fan-written "Very Potter Musical."

Rowling's newest book and first since the conclusion of the Potter series, an adult novel titled "The Casual Vacancy," will come out this September. Between the webcast and the book's release it's shaping up to be a busy fall for Rowling fans.
