Taylor Swift has received an honorary doctorate degree from New York University, and her boyfriend Joe Alwyn could not be more proud.

“It’s an incredible honor, it’s absolutely amazing,” Alwyn, 31, told “Extra” of Swift’s achievement, as she accepted the honorary doctorate of fine arts at the university’s commencement ceremony Wednesday.

Who exactly is Swift’s boyfriend and how much is he worth?

Born in north London, England, Alwyn was still a student at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama when he landed the starring role in his first movie, Ang Lee's war drama “Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk,” in 2016.

Since making his feature film debut, Alwyn’s career has taken off at a whirlwind pace. Over the years, he has appeared in several movies, including “Mary Queen of Scots,” “Boy Erased,” “Operation Finale,” “The Favourite” and “Harriet.”

In 2019, Alwyn also appeared in the mini-series “A Christmas Carol.”

The British actor currently stars in the Hulu series “Conversations With Friends” as Nick Conway, a famous actor who has an affair with a young bisexual poet (Alison Oliver).

Today, Alwyn’s net worth stands at $4 million, according to Celebrity Net Worth. His girlfriend, on the other hand, is worth $400 million.

Alwyn and Swift began dating in late 2016, with the megastar confirming their romance in January 2017.

Aside from being an actor, Alwyn is also a songwriter. His accidental songwriting career started after he began dating Swift.

He reportedly co-wrote a number of songs, including “Exile,” “Betty” and “Champagne Problems,” from Swift's 2020 albums “Folklore” and “Evermore.”

Alwyn took home a Grammy as a co-producer of “Folklore,” which won album of the year at the 63rd annual Grammy Awards in March 2021.

Alwyn and Swift have long been rumored to be engaged, but they are staying tight-lipped on the status of their relationship.

The engagement rumors started in 2019 after Swift shared a cryptic Instagram post featuring a photo of her dancing ballet.

The caption read, “My heart has been borrowed and yours has been blue. All’s well that ends well, to end up with you,” which are lyrics from her track "Lover."

Swift fueled the rumors in January 2020 when she wore a massive diamond ring on her left hand in her Netflix documentary, “Miss Americana.”

Last month, Alwyn declined to confirm or deny rumors that he and Swift are engaged in an interview with WSJ. Magazine.

“If I had a pound for every time I think I’ve been told I’ve been engaged, then I’d have a lot of pound coins,” he said. “I mean, the truth is, if the answer was yes, I wouldn’t say, and if the answer was no, I wouldn’t say.”
