Grammy-nominated singer Joey Feek is terminally ill, but her will is strong as ever. Rory Feek, her husband and singing partner, took to his inspirational blog, “This Life I Live,” to document a “gift” that occurred Friday.

Joey is bedridden, but she walked out of her room -- with the help of her sister, Jody -- and joined the family for an hour and a half. “Honestly, I think Joey just got tired of listening to life going on in the rooms outside of her bedroom and tired of wondering what it would be like to be part of it,” he wrote Sunday. “That’s not as simple as it sounds when you’ve been in a hospital bed for weeks and were prepared to possibly never walk again. But I guess the power of the will is much stronger than the power of fear.”

Joey was able to play with their daughter, Indiana, 22 months old. “She was a mama again,” Rory wrote, adding: “Playing with and teaching sign language to her little girl, like she’d been dreaming of being able to do.”

Joey Feek cancer battle update

Joey, 40, was diagnosed with stage-four cervical cancer last year. The singer stopped chemotherapy in October after doctors said her condition wasn’t improving.

Lying in bed for hours has given Joey time to think, and she’s realized each moment is a gift. “…You don’t know if you’re gonna be here next Christmas, or next month or even next week… you suddenly become hyper-aware that today… that this moment -- is all you have,” she told Rory, according to his blog.

Rory, 50, finished the post by sharing a video of Joey singing a song called “The Gift,” which was featured on their 2011 Christmas record. “She might look different to you. But not to me,” he wrote. “Yes, she’s a few years older and the chemo and radiation have taken their toll on her physical body. But the same joy in her spirit and the same beautiful smile is still there, shining through. Cancer can’t take that away from her.”
