As the second oldest son of “19 Kids and Counting” stars Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar, John-David Duggar’s relationship status is constantly in question. The 25-year-old reality star has been linked to several women over the past year, the latest individual being a member of the equally famous Bates-Paine family.
After photos surfaced showing Erin (Bates) Paine's sister-in-law Tabitha Paine with the Arkansas brood, many questioned if she was courting someone from the Duggar family. Fans immediately connected Tabitha to John-David, but it appears the rumors are nothing more than idle gossip. In response to one fan’s inquiry about her dating life, Tabitha revealed she is not courting any of the Duggars, but merely acting as a tutor for the family.
“I have been a live-in tutor to the Duggar children for the past year,” she wrote on her blog, according to the Duggar Family Blog. “Because we don’t do school 24/7 I am able to join in with the family’s work and fun activities during the weekends and evenings. Hence, the reason why you may see so many pictures!”
Tabitha concluded her post saying she is not in a relationship and “may just be single for the rest of my life.”
Rumors of John-David’s love life first started circulating in November 2014 when he was photographed alongside a mystery brunette on several occusaions, including a book signing. Reports also linked him to a family friend of the Duggars, who went by the name Laura D. on Twitter.
The Duggars last spoke out about John-David’s love life in March during an episode of TLC’s now-canceled “19 Kids and Counting.”
“John-David is a great guy. He’ll be a great catch for some young lady,” Jim Bob said during the installment before confirming that his son was not attached. “He’s not courting anybody right now, but it probably won’t be too long.”
