A comic book about the late Beatles band mate and musical legend John Lennon will go on sale in December.

Fame: John Lennon will be released on Dec. 27 as part of Bluewater Comics' Orbit series. The series consists of biographical comic books that target a male audience, according to Bluewater's Web site. Past comic biographies include Stephen King, Keith Richards and Howard Stern.

No one could begin to estimate the contribution The Beatles have had on our world, Bluewater Comics president Darren Davis said in a statement, Comic Book Resources reported. And John Lennon is the perfect choice for our 'Orbit' series. He was so much more than just a rock star, because he used his stardom to make the world a better place.

Writer Marc Shapiro commented on the comic, saying it would go into Lennon's life outside of The Beatles.

I approached writing 'Fame: John Lennon' as an exploration of a life full of potential and promise that was, sadly, cut short, Shapiro said in a statement, Comic Book Resources reported. We all know the importance of John Lennon as part of The Beatles. But I felt it was more important to concentrate on his post Beatles life and career, both good and bad, so that readers would get the clearest possible idea about who he was as a creative entity, husband and father.

The news comes as one of Lennon's teeth is planned for auction next month.

The tooth, a molar, will be auctioned by the Omega Auction house in England, and bidding will start at just under $16,000, CNN reported.

Those unable to afford the tooth can take solace in the comic book's cost: $3.99.
